Many laminated and corrugate board constructions use materials that are based on plastics or plastic-coated papers to achieve barrier performance for food applications. As such, they are not conventionally recyclable nor are they compostable.
Liner materials need to function in a wide range of conditions from frozen for meat, chicken, and fish products, chilled and ambient to “hot box” and ovenable
systems for sandwiches, paninis, and other food to go and ready meals. Therefore, barrier performance must be very high to resist grease and water at a range of temperatures and conditions whilst providing release against frozen food. The paper must provide good conversion performance for laminating and corrugate lines.
We have developed a range of FSC certified barrier coated kraft liner materials, SeerPak™ Liner, which provide high barrier performance to liquids and fats whilst remaining conventionally recyclable and compostable. These liner papers are PFAS free and are suitable for lamination and corrugating processes and provide frozen food release when required. They are also suitable for dual ovenable applications.
Our latest addition is a liner using materials that are over 99% renewable.
Sustainable Packaging Products Ltd has focussed its material development on a number of primarily food related market sectors below. As development work continues, additional sectors will be added. Meanwhile, SPP Ltd is able to consider bespoke packaging material solutions as required. Please contact SPP Ltd here.
