SeerPak™ Pouches

Most pouch and sachet products today are made from laminated or co extruded plastics that can run on vertical or horizontal form, fill and seal machinery. These materials are generally difficult to recycle being made of mixed plastics and are not compostable. As such, plastic pouches are seen as a major contributor to the problem of plastic waste both on land and in the marine environment.

Paper-based pouch solutions require high barrier performance to provide shelf life for food and food ingredients. These include barriers to fats, water, water vapour and oxygen. In addition, paper-based pouch materials need to have good heat seal performance combined with high strength to run at standard speeds on pouch forming machinery.

We have developed several new, paper-based, pouch material solutions that provide technically and economically viable alternatives to plastics for food packaging. SeerPak™ Pouch provides high barrier performance for most dry food applications with SeerPak™ Transmet Pouch providing the additional benefit of oxygen barrier. SeerPak™ Pouch delivers high grease, water and MVTR barrier with SeerPak™ Transmet Pouch delivering a gas and aroma barrier. All materials are heat sealable and are conventionally recyclable in the normal paper waste stream and are compostable.
